Back in the late 1970s, I attended Delaware County Community College for Fire Science. Took several classes from Chief Tom Hayden. Always thought very highly of Chief Hayden. Love the Bryn Mawr apparatus color scheme. Be safe, BMFC!!!

grew up at 18 s merion ave. a stones throw from the firehouse. millions of times that siren would wake me, then again at breakfast mom would say how many times it would sound & i didnt even hear it. funny how that works. Even now i can still hear that siren...... great memories never to be forgotten _ i still miss Bryn Mawr, along with hoagies, cheese steaks, tasty cakes, and Franks sodas, believe me_ i have lived in many cities & states since my journey from there, nothing like a Philly hoagie. Great site! thanks .

Well guys, I have been following your site for sometime now. It's great. I am glad to see that the Kelly's are still represented, and some young Cuff's. I grew up with Dick Cuff, on Morton Road. My father,Joe Warner and Uncle AL Warner had a combined 84 years as members. I am to blame for getting my best friend started as a hoseman. Jack Thomas was his name.
keep up the good work. John M. Warner

Enjoyed looking back. My Father, Dr. Isreal Harrison was a dentist in Bryn Mawr and I understand one of the originals of BMFC.

My grandfather, Fred Adams had a couple brothers, descendants even, who may have been members of Bryn Mawr, or the surrounding area fire departments ( companies). My grandfather lives in the Bryn Mawr area for most of his live, chauffeuring for the late Ethel Pew. Would anyone there have possible leads / breadcrumbs about the Adams family (s) ?
Thanks!

Comments:

Oh, the great times I remember. My dad, Israel Harrison, dentist in Bryn Mawr, was a volunteer fireman. As a kid, I loved the fire house, counting the sirens in the middle of the nite, and heading to the firehouse in pajamas, the board that showed the location of the fire, the coffee and doughnuts served to the firemen. I remember seeing all the men playing cards upstairs. The fire house was the center of a lot of activity. What a great part of my life. When I visited Bryn Mawr in 2014, I had to revisit the firehouse. My dad was still acknowledged in the pix upstairs. Thank you Bryn mawr Fire Company for being such a great part of my life. ED Harrison

Dear Chief Kincaid,

Thank you so much for sending the engine and team of fire fighters to the Church of the Redeemer Bazaar yesterday. I know that there were many children with their families who loved climbing on the engine and talking with the firefighters.

We really appreciate everyone taking time out of the day to be with us and for working hard to protect our community.

Regards,

Carol Chew and the Church of the Redeemer

I just had the pleasure of skiing with Rich Cuff at Taos Ski Valley, NM. We learned we are both volunteer fire fighters, him with 35 yrs. experience, me with 5 yrs. (he doesn't look that old) It looks from your website that you are doing a GREAT job!

I want to thank the Bryn Mawr Fire Company for their prompt attention to the carbon monixide leak at 104 charles at Home Properties. Their prompt response may have saved the life of my grand-daughter. Not only did they respond once, but they had to return late Thursday night to reset the alarms. If you could give me the names of the respondents, I would like to personally thank them. ...and PS: the little puppy seems to be walking okay now. They will know what that means!

Grew up in Ardmore and have passed your station on Lancaster Pike more times than I can remember. I have lived in North Carolina since 1992 but still have a warm spot in my heart for the departments on the Main Line. I enjoy telling folks here about your green and gold apparatus. Was Fire Police in Chester County at East Goshen many years ago. The best to all of my PA brothers. Be safe out there! We are building a new station here in Calabash and would love to have one of your patches for our wall.

Nicely organized website guys!
I proudly served BMFC while attending college between 1986 and 1990.
Would like to see a history of the "green trucks" as when I talk about my days there I always bring up, what I believe is actually a fictitious story, of the wealthy widow who left a large inheritance to BMFC so long as the trucks would always be green! It does make for a fun story!
I was very sad to hear about the extensive damage to the Bloomfield mansion in Villanova, very close to my parents home, but pleased no firefighters were apparently injured in the large battle.

I am also interested in history of the Company; one of my relatives is Horace Parsons who was Fire Chief there, for a long time from 1930's to 1950's I think. Do you have historical photos of him and the Company you can post, or which I could arrange to see at the station? Was Luther Parsons also part of the Company earlier? I recall going past the station when I lived in the area and having my mother point out the green and gold engines and her family connection. Any info would be great, thank you!

My name is Jimmy Johnson. I live at Woods Services
I was given a Bryn Mawr Fire Company helmet when firemen came to visit us. I still wear the Helmet when we have fire drills. Even in a wheelchair I try help promote fire saftey . I believe I would make a good firefighter for Ladder 23.

we have found the grave of Thomas L. Nash 1893 - 3/3/1937 in an abandoned Baptist cemetery on W Wayne Ave. in Wayne. His headstone is on the site Findagrave.com. You will notice that his flag holder is a replica of your logo & it says it "Bryn Mawr Fire Co. Member 1" & has the ladder and a pump on the side sextions. His Burial Permit says he lived at 842 Martin Ave. Bryn Mawr. If there is any more information that you could give us about Thomas Nash (is he Member 1 because he was a Fire Chief?) or if there's anything we can help you with, please let me know. We are working with St. Katherine's Eagle Scouts to find our Veterans for the 150 anniversery of the Civil War in 2011. There are many Nashs in this cemetery & the latest one is John H. Nash who was a Radnor High School teacher for years who past away recently. Thanks for your help!

Good day members of the Bryn Mawr Fire Co. I am writing to say that we have just received your old Ladder 23 at our firefighting academy here in Laval. All of our instructors are also full time firefighters and we all agree that you have taken VERY good care of this rig for the last 8 years, we will try and keep it a nice as it is for many years to come. All of our students are excited to see it and are a little sorry they will not get a chance to use it much this year as we are about to end the semester. Most of our trucks are red but we will be keelping your colors as we love the original work. ONce again thank you for such a beutiful apparatus.

I love all the updates. The recent events that have gone on.
This is definitely one of, if not, the best fire company pages I've seen.

And thank you to those who responded to the gas leak today.
