Box Truck Fire During Blizzard Conditions

By Member Jeffrey Josephson
February 10, 2010

At 12:24 on 2/10/2010, the Bryn Mawr Fire Company was dispatched for a vehicle fire on Lancaster Avenue in front of the Villanova University Football Stadium. With the blizzard conditions, it wasn't until they were a few hundred yards away that they realized they had a box truck fully involved. The box truck contained palletts of snow melting material and a snow blower. Due to the calcium product burning, this fire took significantly more effort and water to extinguish than a more standard car fire. The fire was extinguished without incident or injury.
