On February 23 just after 1130 hours, Bryn Mawr Fire Company was dispatched to the 1200 block of Mount Pleasant Road in the Villanova section of Lower Merion Township for a Technical Rescue where two men were reported trapped in a trench collapse at a construction site. Upon arrival it was confirmed that the two men were trapped up to their waists in dirt in an open trench. Crews from Station 23 worked with members from 21, 22, 24, 27, 56 and the Montco USAR team for over 30 minutes to free the trapped men digging with hand tools and their bare hands. Both men were removed from the trench and transferred to EMS for treatment. Crews we’re back in service just after 1310.
